pumpkin spiced hot chocolate - delicious!

wow, pumpkin and chocolate seem to be a pair I can't get out of my mind today. maybe because it's halloween? maybe because there was chocolate-pumpkin pie for dessert tonight at the dining hall?
I have never thought of combining hot cocoa and pumpkin spices/flavor in drink, but I can't see how it would be anything but comforting / delicious / seasonally perfect.

lemon ricotta donuts - so fresh!

these donuts just look very refreshing and light - they are baked instead of fried. plus I always love the combo of lemon and ricotta!

my favorite look has to be the red dress / fur vest / draped bag!
such unexpected silhouettes with the structured shoulders, and a great mix of vintage-inspired pieces and modern touches.
honorable mentions go to the amazing tulle skirt, the great draping effect of the nude-colored look, and the casual-ness of a pretty fancy cheetah vest.

Walter Crane via John Sloan

so, for art history I am doing research on John Sloan and one of his continually mentioned influences is John Crane...naturally I looked up his work, and these three prints/paintings really caught my attention.

Beauty, to me, is all about being comfortable in your own skin. That, or a kick-ass red lipstick.

modcloth revival

I hadn’t looked at modcloth.com in a while, and happened upon several quirky / amazing finds! I really love the organic and whimsical quality of the purple flower string lights, the mod yet up to date scalloped black and white dress, the hilarious Russian doll earbuds (Margaret, are you reading this? order these now!), the almost tacky yet glitzy purple gem bag, and the over-the-top, gold-buttoned, military appeal of the jacket. Great finds!

passionfruit yogurt cheesecake?
these seem delicious and unusual all at once!

another fall-y dessert

for some reason this chocolate-pumpkin marble cake with cream cheese seems to wrap up festive fall desserts for me! I wonder how the chocolate and pumpkin would taste together…guess this means I ‘have’ to make this, yum!

nostalgic for summer shopping on southport ave.

oh how I miss browsing the anthropologie sale room on southport…
LOVING the rainbow palettes on these flow-y numbers…maybe all the cold, rainy weather is making me nostalgic for the colors and temperatures of summer!

grilled nectarines?

grilled nectarines - who would have thought? these look absolutely delicious…

pumpkin cinnamon rolls with maple glaze!

pumpkin cinnamon rolls with maple glaze - could there be a better pastry/dessert??
now that I have a kitchen down the hall maybe I’ll try making these this weekend…

wow, I only wish I could emulate these looks on campus…these seriously stylish people inspire me to branch out this fall/winter!

FAVORITE DESSERT EVER

vintage silhouette dresses

perusing modcloth once again and came across these 3 fantastic vintage-silhouetted dresses! I can just imagine throwing any of these on and heading to a nice soiree, accessorizing with modern touches to keep the dresses from looking dated.

Sweet potato red velvet cakes (with sweet potato icing and white chocolate, sweet potato & ginger truffles) !!!

wow, these look SO amazing and I really really want to try making them despite the impracticality of ingredients for a college kitchen…delicious!

peanut butter and marshmallow popcorn!

I can't really think of anything more delicious for fall...sweet, peanutbutter-y, and with the texture that we all love in popcorn.

The School of Essential Ingredients by Erica Bauermeister is the absolute sweetest book i have read all summer. If you are passionate about gourmet cooking, friendship, and love, this is my number one recommendation.

collage materials / wall decorations!

so the other day I started making ‘frames’ for the hundreds of collage images I cut out of advertising stock books (LOVE leafing through those!!) using colorfully-patterned paper.
three of my personal favorites ^

live on, long sleeves!

here are three amazing long-sleeve shirt/sweater options from modcloth.com.
sometimes I feel like I don’t pay as much attention to long-sleeve numbers just b/c it is more practical to layer short-sleeve shirts with cardigans, but these are chic yet practical.

4 great finds on etsy.com!

i LOVE the impact of the bright yellow brazilian boots from the 70s, the flashy disco nature of the sequin top (i gravitate towards anything sequined in vintage stores anyway…), the extreme color pop of the crazy pink coat, and the full shape and interesting pattern of the skirt. really into resale/vintage lately!

just browsing my new favorite website, modcloth.com, and found two very viable shoe options for the fall at Williams!
LOVE the unexpected purple metallic take on oxfords, and the edgy twist on traditional cowboy boots in the form of  brown lace-up booties.
